Spain, like so many countries in the world, lives under a constant threat of terrorist attack. There is the threat from Islamist terrorism, which brought such tragic consequences in the Madrid Train Bombings on 11th March 2004. 191 people died and over 1800 were injured, many disfigured for life.

Spain also has the threat of terrorism from Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (E.T.A.) the armed Basque nationalist and separatist organisation. In recent weeks there have been bombings in Burgos, in the north, and on the Island of Palma de Mallorca in the Balearics. Two police officers were killed in Majorca.

We pray Lord, that You will protect Your people from attack from the enemy. We remember that our struggle is not against flesh, but a spiritual battle. We pray that You will frustrate the plans of evil, make the terrorist bombs fail to explode, whilst helping the police with good intelligence. We pray that you will bring peace by the power of Your mighty hand. In Jesus name we ask this, amen.

Ephesians 6 verse 12:
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
